Thanks to my sponsor; Get Surfshark VPN at Surfshark.deals/NERD, Enter promo code NERD for 83% off and one extra month free!.... MGA Entertainment, otherwise known as Micro Games of America, produced a lot of electronic devices over the years, some were imported, some were not. But its devices like the Game Wizard, masquerading as something better, something bolder, which really grab my attention. These cartridge taking machines look like a Gameboy, but the question is, are they anything like a Gameboy?
Thank you to THE INCREDIBLE Quang (Kwang in some circles) for gathering footage on the games I did not have: twitter.com/asobitech. Bow to him, for Quang is awesome.

  • @Nostalgia Nerd - hahaha 1970s very cheap hand held technology released in 1995 to beat an underpowered 1989 hand held that was grafically still nothing compared to the 1991 sega Game Gear which was a defacto Sega Master system that was already superceded by the MegaDrive / Genesis , while the Playstation 1 was aready in start positioon

  • I would not have liked this as a kid, but now that I collect older games, I really do like these for display purposes. I have 2 complete All Star Sports sets, each with the blue consoles and vinyl cases (they were all included in one lot), along with the complete Star Wars collection, console and vinyl case. For whatever reason, the vinyl cases only hold the console and two cartridges. You can stick a third cart in the console, but then you can't close the case, lol.

  • No offense, but you assumptions and logic are or is incorrect: if parents bought a Gamewizard plus a Gameboy then your whole argument falls apart... at least so far as to say one unit/device is technically inferior than the Bandai Wonderswan and or the Neo Geo Pocket Pro (both of the last items being monochrome and not their respective coloured fancy shmancy versions ! Why do we have to like or fancy one item instead of another different item; logic dictates that one can like or fancy two or more items at the same time ?! ☯️🤔 I , for example, like and fancy/adore/adopt everything ... I don't discriminate or bigot towards one form of archaic piece or hardware or something familiar/similar in form or substance. 🤷🏻‍♂️💯💪👍

  • I had Tiger handheld games growing up but they really only served to be a periodic distraction on long car rides like with most children. I was one of the weirder kids who actually liked to observe the passing scenery, especially if it was a trip to somewhere when we'd go on vacation/holiday. I was easy to entertain, heh.

  • I had a very cool looking LCD flight simulator game that involved taking off from an aircraft carrier and either taking a peaceful flight or a flight where you had to dogfight other planes. The only problem was it was next to impossible to land, so most flights ended when I ran out of fuel. The game would have been awesome if it had worked all the time, but instead it sucked

The idea of combining one of those Tiger LCD style games with interchangeable cartridges to make a cheap portable wasn't a horrible idea in the early 90's. Would have been a much bigger deal if it had released 10 years earlier though.
